How to stream live tv from the AzBox to your computer

MULTICAST
Multicast means that any computer on your network is able to receive the stream regardless of its IP address by streaming to a special IP address which is 224.0.0.1. Please note that your network configuration has to support multicast traffic and it generally does not work well if using wireless unless you tweak your wireless advanced settings on your router to limit multicast traffic to something like 18 Mbps or lower. If you don't do this, the multicast traffic will typically flood your wireless connection pretty quickly so if your wireless connection can't be used when you try to stream via multicast, you know why!

To stream via multicast:

On AzBox by pressing MENU then selecting streaming:
IP: 224.0.0.1
Port: 9000 is the default and generally works fine assuming it is not being blocked by your firewall
Duration: Change to Undefined in order to stream until stopped

On your media player such as VLC:
Open network stream and use the following address including the @ sign: udp://@224.0.0.1:9000

Please note that multicast streaming generally works best if you are not using wireless for either your AzBox or your computer. If using wireless, it is recommended to use UNICAST streaming instead.

UNICAST
Unicast means that you are only streaming to a specific computer on your network. The downfall of this method is that only one computer can listen to the stream at the same time but it is typically easier to setup and works with most networking setups. In order to do this, you have to enter you computer's internal LAN IP address on the AzBox when starting to stream along with an unused port.

To stream via Unicast assuming your computer's internal IP address is 192.168.1.21:

On AzBox by pressing MENU then selecting streaming:
IP: 192.168.1.21
Port: 9000 is the default and generally works fine assuming it is not being blocked by your firewall.
Duration: Change to Undefined in order to stream until stopped

On your media player such as VLC:
Open network stream and use the following address including the @ sign: udp://@192.168.1.21:9000

Hopefully this helps out a few people trying to stream live TV to their computer.
